Boulder terraced front garden in East Dulwich

This is an ornamental garden designed for a building project where a basement flat was being created. The clientÕs brief for this garden was to create a visual feast for the occupants of both the basement flat and the first floor flat which overlooks the planting (but not the decked area).

Once the existing front garden had been removed by the builders we constructed a decked area accesses through the basement French doors. A retaining wall just above waist height contains the two boulder terraces that step up dramatically to street level. A rendered wall encloses the garden, and planting accentuates the boulder forms while offering privacy and shade to the decked area.
